Before you begin

Please inform yourself of the different types of entities that can be registered. This information can be found here https://www.cipa.co.bw/selecting-and-reserving-an-entity-name.html.

If you wish to reserve a Company name and not a Business Name, please cancel this application and then select Reserve a Company Name from the OBRS menu. If you wish to reserve a Business Name or “Trading As” you are in the right place.  

Please also ensure you have searched the register and have satisfied yourself that the name you wish to reserve is not in use. A useful guide on the rules for reserving names can be found  here: https://www.cipa.co.bw/requirements-for-foreigners.html. 

Note that after approval, your name will be reserved for 30 days, during which time you must register it by selecting Register a Business Name from the OBRS menu. Failure to register the name within 30 days will render your name reservation invalid, and you will have to apply and pay again.
