Recordal of Works
The Act provides that the Copyright Office should maintain a register of works published in Botswana. [Section 22B (H)]. In that regard, right holders are encouraged to register their works with the Copyright Office. It must be noted that this is not a requirement that can be used to grant or deny the creator of a work protection. This is a common practice in many jurisdictions and can assist in the event there are disputes with ownership and originality of the work. CIPA will issue an acknowledgement of registration of a work.
How To Register A Copyright Protected Work
- Present a copy of the work at the CIPA Copyright Office;
